Chromaforms
Immeasurable Heaven is a head of hand-folded steel with a galaxy inside. Switch it on and the stars come through. Now available for your home. This sculpture is the newest addition to Martin Taylor’s series of geometric head sculptures that began with “Seed of Dreams” at Burning Man 2022.
Immeasurable Heaven takes its name from Laniakea, the supercluster of galaxies our Milky Way belongs to. The name is Hawaiian for “immeasurable heaven,” given by astronomers in honor of the Polynesian navigators who crossed the Pacific by the stars.
Laniakea is one strand of a vast cosmic web, and at this scale the universe looks remarkably like neural tissue of a brain under a microscope. The same patterns appear from inside our skulls to the edges of the observable universe, a reminder that we are not separate from the cosmos.
