Seed of Dreams
2022, Stainless Steel, Weathered Corten Steel, White LEDs. 14 × 9 × 6 ft
Seed of Dreams was inspired by the writings of Carl Jung whose work explored the role of the subconscious mind on the psyche. At the center of the mind is the pineal gland, which many believe to be the source of subconscious thought, the seed of dreams. The sculpture is a large-scale abstract representation of this concept utilizing the medium of light as a metaphor for consciousness. Within the head is a bench and a dream diary where participants can record their dreams and read the dreams of others. The sculpture provides a meditative space for people to reflect on the nature of consciousness.
First exhibited at Burning Man in 2022. A limited-edition lamp adaptation of the piece is forthcoming.
